During pregnancy, women may develop some diseases that often affect expectant mothers. As a rule, these diseases do not bother women after childbirth, but it is better to know their signs and symptoms in order to warn them in advance.

Preeclampsia

Preeclampsia is characterized by high blood pressure, it is a form of late toxicosis in pregnant women. This condition is quite dangerous, since the fetus is limited in normal supply of nutrients and oxygen, which increases the risk of termination of pregnancy. There is also something to worry about for the expectant mother - preeclampsia negatively affects the kidneys, liver and brain of a woman. In this condition, a pregnant woman may lose consciousness, and convulsions may occur.

Anemia

Anemia is a fairly common condition among pregnant women. Often, the expectant mother faces a deficiency of iron in the blood, which is necessary for the synthesis of hemoglobin, which in turn ensures the delivery of oxygen to all tissues and cells. During pregnancy, a woman needs this macronutrient doubly, because not only she needs it, but also the child. Due to a lack of iron, anemia develops. Signs of anemia are pallor, weakness and dizziness.

Urinary tract infections

Also a fairly common disease in pregnant women, the symptoms of which are painful sensations when urinating, pain in the lower abdomen, an increase in the number of urges to urinate, and sometimes the presence of bloody discharge in the urine. If the infection is not stopped, it can rise higher and reach the kidneys and flow into pyelonephritis, which is characterized by vomiting, lower back pain, chills and rapid heartbeat. You must immediately contact a specialist to prevent possible complications.

Gestational diabetes or diabetes of pregnant women

About 5% of pregnant women face this form of diabetes. Usually, gestational diabetes occurs in the second half of pregnancy, at 28 weeks. It develops due to the intensive production of insulin by the body, which works to provide it to the baby. The pancreas may not cope with such a load and the blood sugar level will exceed the norm. This is a temporary phenomenon and after the birth of the child everything returns to normal. However, if signs of gestational diabetes do appear, then it is necessary to carefully plan your diet and do basic physical exercises.
