A study of scientists from the University of Connecticut denies the current belief that people with high cholesterol do not need to eat eggs. Experts believe that eggs have a beneficial effect on the level of lipids in the blood.
A team of scientists led by Dr. Maria Luz Fernandez, a professor at the University of Connecticut, conducted a study in which experts were able to correct the health of people with metabolic syndrome.
Metabolic syndrome is a pathological condition characterized by a number of disorders: high blood pressure, elevated levels of bad cholesterol in the blood, fat deposits in the waist region, and high glucose levels . According to scientists, in the United States the metabolic syndrome affects about 34% of the population. In addition, this condition is becoming more common. Experts note that men have a lower risk of developing metabolic syndrome than women.
People with metabolic syndrome often have increased risks of developing diabetes, as well as cardiovascular diseases.
However, scientists know how to help such patients and reduce the health risks associated with the syndrome.
It turns out that it is only necessary to add to the daily diet of ordinary chicken eggs.
The study involved women and men who had signs of a metabolic syndrome. Specialists offered volunteers to "sit" on an egg diet. In addition to excess weight, all subjects had a high level of bad cholesterol in the blood - low density lipoproteins.
In the course of the experiment, the subjects were divided into two groups. All participants received three eggs each day, but one group "sat" on a low-carbohydrate diet, and the second fed on high-calorie foods that were usually present in their diet. The experiment lasted twelve weeks, after which all subjects underwent examination.
As it turned out, the egg diet gave good results: all participants in the experiment showed an increase in the concentration of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in the blood and a decrease in the level of the bad.
People can control their weight if they follow what they eat and how. For example, the use of natural products and high-quality protein will help people improve their health, give them energy and help reduce weight, experts say.
Researchers note that consumption of eggs for breakfast is an excellent option, because their use helps a person for a long time not to feel hunger, saturates him, and this has a direct effect on the body mass index. In addition, high-quality protein contained in eggs is an important aspect of the prevention of many chronic diseases.
One chicken egg contains 13 vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, such as vitamin D and choline, which are found only in certain foods. And antioxidants zeaxanthin and lutein protect the person from vision loss.
