American experts have developed a unique drug that allows you to get rid of the depressive state in just 1 day. The new drug was successfully tested in animals and at this stage, specialists are testing on volunteers.

To test the effectiveness of the new tool, scientists took a group of rats and method of constant stressful situations brought the animals to a depressive state. After this, scientists injected animals with a new drug that cleared the symptoms of a mental disorder for one day. At the same time, scientists have identified a possible side effect of the new drug, namely, dependence. Thanks to clinical trials involving people, scientists will be able to establish whether a new medicine can cope with depression and not cause heavy dependence.

According to experts, the drug works exclusively on those parts of the brain that are responsible for the mood. In addition, the drug can be taken separately from other antidepressants, and sometimes completely replaced them. It is worth noting that today, such mental disorders are treated on average 4 months, while several drugs are prescribed.

According to studies conducted in different countries, depression has recently become an increasingly common form of mental disorder. Millions of people suffer from this disorder, according to some sources, depression is observed in 20% of the population in developed countries.

Depression is considered a serious mental illness, which is characterized by a decrease in working capacity, mood, a violation of the mental function (negative thoughts, pessimism), motor retardation. The disease brings suffering not only to the person himself, but also to his surroundings. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of the typical signs of this disease, so quite often a person gets help when the disease has already acquired a protracted, heavy character (in some cases, a person remains without adequate help, which leads to suicide).

Today, health services are concerned about the current situation, and are doing everything possible to spread information about depression and treatment methods for this disorder.

Often, a depressive disorder in a person is perceived by others as a heavy character, selfishness, natural pessimism. But it is worth remembering that this mental disorder is not just a temporary manifestation, but a serious disease that without effective help can lead to tragic consequences (severe form can cause the patient persistent thoughts of suicide). Depression can be treated quite well, and the earlier the disease is identified, the more likely it is to have an early cure and a normal life.

The disease has emotional, mental, behavioral and physiological manifestations. The doctor in determining the diagnosis takes into account the duration of some signs of depression (some of the symptoms should be present for at least two weeks).

The main symptoms include a decrease in interest in the world, people, depression, irritability, insomnia, poor appetite, a decrease in self-esteem, a constant sense of guilt, a refusal of entertainment, a desire for solitude, a decrease in sexual desire, the presence of thoughts about one's own uselessness, a gloomy future.
