In the UK, experts found that almost a third of pregnant women suffer from depressive disorders. A new study of British scientists involved a thousand women, some of whom were pregnant, others already enjoyed the happiness of motherhood. The survey found that most pregnant women experience symptoms of depression, but hide it from their loved ones, as well as from the treating doctor.
The main symptoms of prenatal depression are unreasonable feelings of anxiety, sudden mood swings, unstable emotional state, etc. Previously, experts believed that only 15% of pregnant women are prone to prenatal depression, but as it turned out, the number of women is twice that.
In 30% of pregnant women, there were more than 5 symptoms of prenatal depression, according to experts, only in Great Britain 250,000 pregnant women suffer from such disorders, while most people experience this condition on their own, without the support of relatives and specialists.
Experts found that more than 40% of women never told the treating doctor about the symptoms of depression. As the women themselves admitted, they feared condemnation from others, they were embarrassed to talk about such feelings, and also felt guilty. Half of the women in the position did not want to be considered sick, for the same reason a little more than 25% did not admit their feelings and feelings to close people.
A new study by British specialists showed that women who bear a child really feel - it turned out that this is not the most peaceful and happy period in a woman's life. Almost all pregnant women suffer from mood swings, but if this happens rarely, it is considered a normal pregnancy companion (this is due to changes in the hormonal background). But often, pregnant women constantly face a number of unpleasant sensations, which can become a real problem, British researchers warn.
Women are more likely to develop depression. A depressed mood can also occur after having sex, and as shown by recent research by Australian scientists, half of women experience such feelings. At the University of Queensland, the researchers conducted a survey and found that many women after sexual contact with their partner have a feeling of deep sadness, anxiety, depressive disorders, and women can become more aggressive.
The survey involved more than 200 women who had an active sexual life (the age of the respondents was 18 to 55 years). Women told scientists about their feelings after sexual intimacy.
As a result, scientists found that almost half (46%) of the survey participants were depressed after sex at least once in their life, and 5% had similar feelings for the last month several times.
According to researchers, the oppressive state after sex can be associated with genes. Also, the cause of such disorders could have been violence, to which a woman was subjected in the past.
