The meaning of some herbs, which season the dishes, we obviously underestimate, considering that they only enhance their taste. In fact, apart from taste, herbal spices turn food into a treat of gourmets and saturate it with antioxidants and minerals.

Thyme

One of the most commonly used herbs. Thyme is used for everything from killing germs to treating colds. Two teaspoons of this herb can provide you 20 percent of the body's daily iron requirements, also thyme is rich in manganese, a mineral that enhances brain function and promotes healthy bones, skin and cartilage. It is perfectly combined with meat of a bird, fish, mutton and pork.

A small bunch of parsley will provide a daily rate of vitamin K, which plays an important role in the process of proper bone formation, blood clotting and liver function. In ancient Greece parsley was used as an aphrodisiac.

Oregano

This fragrant seasoning contains 20 times more anti-cancer antioxidants than other herbs. A tablespoon of fresh oregano has the same power of charge of antioxidants as an apple. It is best combined with vinaigrette, seafood and poultry dishes.

Rosemary

If you can not live without your favorite steaks and shish kebab, then add this seasoning to the list of "must have" spices. Grilling meat on a grill or on a fire leads to the formation of heterocyclic amines. According to researchers from the University of Iowa, cooking meat with rosemary can lead to a decrease in the level of heterocyclic amines by 60-80 percent. Vegetables, potatoes, eggs, lamb, pork and chicken marvelously get along with a pinch of this fragrant seasoning.

Peppermint

Mint is able to do more than just freshen your breath and be an adornment. By the number of antioxidants, mint is second only to sage and oregano. Researchers at the Jesuit University in West Virginia found that people who snorted mint every 2 hours for a week consumed 2,800 calories less, so it can also be used as a condiment to help lose weight. Lamb, vegetables and chicken are the best company for peppermint.

Lavender

Known as a cure for anxiety and an antibacterial agent, however, this healing properties of this herb do not end there. Lavender is a source of vitamin A and C, iron and calcium. Use lavender as a seasoning for soups (mushroom, fish and vegetable), salads and sauces.
