What should you do to make sure that your new acquaintance is interested? Demonstrate your sympathy or show indifference? Psychologists have found out the secret of a successful first date.

Experts from the University of Virginia (USA) have found out that on the first date you should never openly demonstrate your sympathy and passionate interest in your interlocutor. Emotional distance (when your new gentleman does not know how you feel about him) makes the interlocutor think about you more, and therefore, you become more attractive to him.

These findings were confirmed in an experiment involving 50 female students. The girls were told that several men had visited their social media pages. Some men had apparently expressed their sympathy towards them, others liked them less, and still others had not expressed their opinion at all.

Then the girls were asked to choose the men they would go on a first date with and to name those they had been thinking about for the last 15 minutes. It turned out that they agreed to meet with those who had confessed their love to them in absentia, but they were thinking about the "dark horses" who had not said anything about their emotions.
