Scientists say women are no more stupid than men

A common opinion that a group of American specialists has denied a woman by nature stupidly. According to researchers, the intellectual abilities of a person are affected not by sex, but by the social environment in which they grew up.

But a team of specialists in neurology, led by Lisa Elliot, studied more than 70 scientific publications that included MRI data for more than 6,000 patients who had no health problems.

As neurologists said, there are practically no differences between the brains of men and women, and the identified differences are insignificant. If we carefully study the data, and not limit ourselves to certain conclusions of some scientific works, it will be clear that there is almost no difference between the female and the male brains.

According to Professor S. Drobyshevsky from Moscow State University, the stereotype of the intellectual superiority of the stronger sex was due to the fact that the man's brain was considered to be larger, more specifically the hypothalamus region, but this part of the brain is not responsible for the intellect. It is also believed that women are more stupid, since they have an average brain weight of 100 g. However, Professor Drobyshevsky emphasizes, women are on average lower than men, and their body weight is also smaller, in comparison with the stronger sex. If we take into account the size of the brain relative to the body weight, the result is that the mass of the male and female brain is equal. The complexity of the brain is related to the activity of neurons, but not as not with its size.

It is worth noting that in practice it appears that people with a large brain size have some deviations, in particular, manic disorders or suffer from epileptic seizures. 

Scientists say that you can compare brain size and intelligence only between species, for example, a person is smarter than an Australopithecus, but if you take different populations of people, then this approach will be incorrect.

The intellectual development is influenced in many ways by the environment in which a person grew up, how he was brought up, the hereditary factor is also important, otherwise there would be no need for training, people would already be born intelligent or stupid and no schools, universities, etc. Could not affect the development of man.
