Sugar in the form in which we are accustomed to see it, is not a real natural product, but represents the result of technological processing. In nature, there are many sweet foods, but the excessive craving for sweets, to pleasure, has led him to create sugar.
In Sanskrit, "sugar" means "sweet." In ancient times, the extraction of sugar from reeds was a rather laborious process and required a lot of effort, so it was not used for food, but used in medicine. The situation has changed with the colonization of Africa and the use of slave labor. This allowed to provide Europe with sugar in the sixteenth century.
Since then, sugar is found in almost all products on our table. What did this lead to? It seems that now we are in a global dependence on sugar. This dependence became so strong that it led to the physical and mental problems of mankind.
Sweetness of sugar is an easy way to feel better or have fun. It is well absorbed from childhood and in the future becomes a bad habit. Subsequently, the use of sugar becomes a traditional way of increasing the mood and forms dependence. Many problems are solved by absorption of sweet.
In fact, sugar is the first step to addiction. Many experts believe that children who tend to consume large amounts of sugar in their later life are more likely to be exposed to alcohol dependence. Sugar raises the level of serotonin, a pleasure hormone, and also causes a short burst of energy. As they say, it inspires. True, its action ends as rapidly as it begins.
After the drop in the serotonin level, the mood worsens and again you want a sweet. Over time, the amount of sweet increases, as the sensitivity of the receptors to insulin decreases. Alcohol works the same way. These cycles of mood swings caused by artificial intake of sugar lead to the formation of dependence.
Over time, this causes health problems. Excessive amounts of sugar in the blood cause the pancreas to secrete a larger volume of insulin. With each teaspoon of sugar, the level of insulin in the blood increases. In the end, this leads to the resistance of cells to insulin (resistance). Cells stop reacting to insulin signals, so its level begins to increase.
Insulin is an anabolic hormone, which is responsible for the accumulation and storage of fat, increase in body weight. Insulin resistance causes obesity, diabetes, heart problems, and promotes the activation of inflammatory reactions, the development of cancer and a reduction in life expectancy.
Today, when sugar is everywhere, we have witnessed an unprecedented increase in the diseases of civilization. It seems that this represents a kind of payment for the craving for pleasure, for sweet. Many scientists are convinced that sugar is not a suitable product for our diet. It's abnormal - to extract one component from a natural product and use it in inconceivable amounts.
According to Chinese medicine, craving for sweets is a symptom of a lack of qi in the spleen. However, sugar can not compensate for it. For this, there are sweet vegetables, fruits and berries, which have a true sweet nature and are loaded to the eye with useful nutrients.
Abandonment of sugar is a necessary step on the road to health. If you are not able to immediately achieve this, reduce its number gradually. Eat natural sweets.
