Almost every one of us knows that lack of sleep is very harmful to health. But more recently, scientists have established that men and women suffer a deficiency of sleep in different ways. Joint studies of American and Canadian scientists have determined that especially short-time is dangerous for the beautiful half of humanity.
During the research, scientists analyzed the condition of over two hundred people and men and women of middle age. Previously, none of the volunteer participants in the experiment had serious health problems. Specialists noted that 40% of people had difficulty falling asleep, they needed about 30 minutes to fall asleep. People from the same category woke up more often at night. After all the observations, the scientists came to the conclusion that sleep disturbance poses a great danger for women, since in this case the risk of cardiovascular diseases, as well as the development of type 2 diabetes, is significantly increased.
Sleep is the foundation of health, after a full rest the body recovers, acquires new forces, said the director of the Center for the Study of Dreams and Human Behavior, which is located at the University of Calgary, Charles Samuel.
Recently, scientists are increasingly concerned about the lack of a full night's rest at most of today's people. The doctors are sure that it is in the lack of sleep that we need to look for the causes of various disorders and diseases. Constant lack of sleep causes excess weight, memory impairment - this has already been proven before.
Scientists from Britain found that a systematic lack of sleep can affect the human genes. Experts suggest that the development of certain diseases occurs precisely because of the violation of genes. Now studies are only at the first stage, the study involved 26 people. During the experiment participants did not need to sleep more than six hours a day. After that, all participants checked the condition of the genes. After careful study, it turned out that the damage to genes does occur.
One week of lack of sleep resulted in a disruption in seven hundred genes. The biggest changes occurred in the genes responsible for the susceptibility of the body to stress. In addition, there were disruptions in the genes that regulate the work of the body's biological clock, controlling human biorhythms, forming a human immune defense. In general, when you do not sleep enough, genes that are involved in the most important processes, the vital activity of a person, first of all suffer from heart failure, a quick set of extra pounds, frequent depressive states, severe fatigue even under low loads.
Experts from Britain intend to increase the number of participants for further experiments, but they have no doubt that all further studies will only confirm the results already obtained. Experts recommend sleeping about 7-8 hours a day, but no more, because the overabundance of sleep also negatively affects the state of human health.
