In the course of their recent research, scientists have concluded that the type of cancer depends on the level of a person's income, which can develop.
Scientists have noticed that certain types of cancer often occur in certain social strata. As experts note, wealthy people often develop melanoma, testicular cancer, thyroid gland, people with moderate and low incomes are more likely to develop cancerous tumors in the liver, cervix, larynx, penis.
At the same time, scientists consider it interesting that among people with middle and low incomes, although there are fewer malignancies, the death rate from different types of cancer in this category of citizens is much higher.
In the course of the research, different living standards in the United States were studied, and as noted by experts, more than 2/5 of America's population was studied. As a result, it turned out that over 4 years (from 2005 to 2009), there were approximately three million cases of cancer development. Scientists have determined that some types of cancer, such as cancers of the penis, Kaposi's sarcoma, cervix, etc. Were more common among residents from poor areas, at the same time, testicular and thyroid cancer, skin cancer, is more often diagnosed among the affluent population.
As the expert on oncological tumors Francis Bosco noted, this study will help citizens with middle and low incomes to take care of their health and take regular examinations.
In earlier studies, it was found that women with high incomes are more likely to develop malaria. In the United States, the vast majority of deaths from melanoma occur in the white population. Specialists found that young women with higher risks of developing malignant melanoma. In another study, experts determined that middle-income residents are more likely to have malignant tumors of the breast and skin, in contrast to more affluent fellow citizens.
Also, scientists warn that women who place a career in the first place, and delay the birth of a child indefinitely, put themselves at greater risk, in particular because they can afford to spend more and longer under the sun's rays.
It is also worth noting that the study was conducted in the United States, where there is no free health care system, therefore, for malnourished people, the treatment of malignant formations is too costly, and often the owners of insurance cover part of their expenses for long-term care themselves. Most likely, it is for this reason that mortality among middle-income and low-income populations in America is more common.
In addition, there are other causes on which the development of cancerous tumors depends. First of all, it is worth noting the lifestyle of people. Affluent people can afford to spend more time on resorts (accordingly, spend more time in the sun), which leads to the development of melanoma. Among low-income groups of the population, liver cancer and larynx are more common, which provokes smoking and alcohol abuse.
