An international team of scientists from the University of Otago has found that vitamin C accelerates the process of tumor death in brain cancer patients, foreign media report.

High doses of vitamin C make radiation therapy easier and kill brain tumor cells in cancer patients, scientists have found. They analyzed the survival of cancer cells in patients who took vitamin C during radiation therapy and in patients who did not.

It turns out that forms of tumor resistant to radiation therapy become more vulnerable to it after the patient's body is exposed to a high dose of vitamin C. Killing harmful cells after exposure to the vitamin becomes much easier.

Animal testing has revealed a number of other cancer cells that vitamin C destroys. When it is used, the body produces tumor-aggressive free radicals that do not affect healthy cells. Sufficient concentrations of these free radicals can only be achieved by injection.

It should be noted that the trials have not yet been completed. Scientists are conducting a number of other studies on the impact of high doses of vitamin C on the quality of tumor treatment.
