The health of Ukrainians leaves much to be desired! This is evidenced by the indicators of life expectancy - 67 years, healthy life expectancy - 55 years and the DALY index (lost years of healthy life).
According to the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, the incidence of school-age children has increased by almost 27% over the past ten years. Thus, if in the 1st grade there are already more than 30% of children with chronic diseases, then by the 5th grade their number grows to 50%, reaching 9-64%. And in general, only 7% of Ukrainian schoolchildren have a satisfactory functional state of the body.
Already in the first grade, 11% of schoolchildren have deviations in the musculoskeletal system, 25% in the nasopharynx, 30% in the nervous system, 30% in the digestive organs, and allergic manifestations are recorded in 25% of children.
From grades 1 to 9, the incidence of decreased visual acuity increases by 1.5 times (the so-called excellent student disease), the incidence of posture disorders also increases by 1.5 times, the prevalence of diseases of the digestive system increases by 1.4 times, and the incidence of diseases of the endocrine system increases by 2.6 times.
The Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine notes that only 6-10% of teenagers aged 12-18 are healthy.
