Recently, the industry of donor banks has been growing in the world, and their services are far from cheap. Thus, the cost of a sperm sample can start from 2000 USD. Meanwhile, the number of anonymous donors on the Internet who are ready to share their biomaterial absolutely free of charge is growing.
In addition to high prices, some expectant mothers (especially lesbian couples) are very concerned about anonymity. For these couples, there are forums and sites with closed membership, where you can easily find private donor ads.
For example, the FreeSpermDonorRegistry portal looks like a regular dating site, where about 400 sperm donors have registered over the past six months.
Most of these sites are based in England, Canada and Australia. In the US, donation remains offline. And students can earn up to $12,000 a year by donating their sperm twice a week.
