In recent years, many studies have been carried out that have proven that sleep disorders and insomnia can cause a variety of serious illnesses. Employees of Duke University (USA) reported that women, in comparison with the stronger sex, are much more vulnerable to insomnia on health.
Statistics, in turn, report that female representatives are several times more likely to turn to doctors with complaints of poor, intermittent sleep. Specialists from the expert center of Duke University conducted several detailed studies to determine the dependencies of poor sleep and health disorders in the female body.
The experiment involved more than a hundred people. For several months, volunteers filled in daily questionnaires, which required detailed answers to questions about the quality of sleep, the state of health, the presence of a bad mood after awakening, the first signs of depression. After the experiment was over, blood samples were taken from the participants and specialists analyzed the general state of health. During the processing of the data, specialists found that more than 40% of the people questioned complained of insomnia, poor sleep and problems with falling asleep. All female representatives who had sleep disorders were prone to cardiovascular disease, and insulin levels in the blood were higher than normal.
The head of the study noted that the main function of sound sleep is the ability to let the body recover and gain strength for the next period of time. Women usually do several things at the same time, which leads to an overload of the brain, which then takes more time to recover.
Scientists from Russia do not agree with their American counterparts. For example, a representative of the Russian community of somnologists noted that the amount of sleep needed can not depend on the gender of the person. He suggests that the amount of sleep necessary for a healthy person depends on genetic characteristics. Sleep disorders often lead to various cardiovascular diseases. For example, the most common disease to date is hypertension. About 30% of the adult population of the world suffer from hypertension.
The results of studies conducted last year reported that high blood pressure may be caused by insomnia or lack of sleep. Even in the case when a person leads a completely healthy lifestyle, but does not sleep enough, he has the chances of eventually getting problems with the cardiovascular system.
Minor sleep disorders, in the absence of treatment, can lead to chronic insomnia, breathing disorders and even to mental disorders. Experts warn that the slightest problems with sleep should cause concern. If you can not get rid of restless sleep alone, it is better to contact an expert who can determine the causes of the violation.
