Most parents, when choosing between soda and milkshake, prefer the second drink, as they are completely confident in its benefits. However, the latest research by scientists in this area shows the exact opposite.

A group of American specialists, headed by Eric Stice, conducted a series of experiments and determined that milkshakes, beloved by most children and many adults, are a health hazard, in particular, they lead to obesity. Scientists have found that such a drink contains an exorbitant dose of sugar and fat. The situation is especially aggravated by the fact that milkshakes are loved to be washed down with hamburgers and French fries.

Researchers studied the health of more than 100 middle school students who drank chocolate-flavored milkshakes. The researchers concluded that the human brain perceives sugar-rich foods as a drug. In fact, sugar is the most powerful stimulant of the pleasure center in the brain. In addition to the large amount of sugar, milkshakes contain a significant amount of milk fat, and such a mixture can easily cause obesity.

Project manager Eric Stice noted that the team of scientists conducted a lot of research and studied a large amount of specialized literature. As a result, the scientists came to the conclusion that the more sugar a person consumes, the more he wants. As the scientist said, sugar is like a "reward" for our brain. If a person's brain reward system is activated precisely after eating sweets, then no matter how much willpower he has, it will be extremely difficult for him to control his consumption of sweets.

The results of such a study explain why many people fail to lose weight even after fairly effective diets. One small portion of a sweet cocktail makes a person completely forget about all prohibitions and their own goals, and as a result, a person "pounces" on tasty, but extremely harmful food.

Most parents believe that where there is a mention of milk, even a very distant one, it is a healthy product for children. However, such a statement does not apply to a milkshake in any way. The composition of this sweet and tasty drink consists of ice cream (in some cases, peanut butter is added) and various industrial additives. One serving of the cocktail contains a daily dose of calories that an adult needs. Children and teenagers pay for such a pleasure with their own health, in particular, they have problems with excess weight. If in addition to a milkshake, a child also gets French fries, nuggets, or a hamburger - a standard set in any fast food establishment, then the child's unformed body receives a mixture of vegetable and animal fats, which are difficult to cope with even in a day. Taking into account the modern sedentary lifestyle of the younger generation, which prefers to sit in front of computer monitors instead of walking and playing sports, it becomes clear where the problem of extra pounds in childhood and adolescence comes from.
