Oxytocin spray increases sexual desire, arousal intensity and emotional responsiveness in men.

Viagra may give way to oxytocin as the main sexual stimulant: the latest research has shown that this female hormone increases sexual desire in men. It has long been known that oxytocin has obstetric functions. After 1979, when its effect on behavior was discovered, interest in it increased many times over. It was found that it shapes maternal behavior and strengthens the emotional connection between partners during sexual intimacy. In addition, it helps to gain trust and encourages cooperation; its deficiency often accompanies chronic anxiety and autistic disorders. But in the vast majority of cases, scientists have studied the role of oxytocin in women. Only recently have more and more works begun to appear devoted to the effect of this hormone on men.

Scientists from the University of California in San Diego (USA) asked married men to use an oxytocin nasal spray twice a day. As the scientists write in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, those who used the spray became friendlier and more emotionally responsive to colleagues and friends, but most importantly, their sexual function improved. Libido went from weak to strong, and sexual arousal was achieved many times faster and easier than before using the drug. At the same time, the men were not at all fixated on themselves - their wives were extremely satisfied with the changes that had occurred in their husbands.

The researchers emphasize that, unlike Viagra, physiological changes in men were harmoniously combined with emotional ones. Oxytocin, so to speak, healed not only the body, but also the soul, enhancing emotional contact with a partner, strengthening relationships at all levels. Viagra, by the way, does not help everyone, which is sometimes explained by the one-sidedness of its action. Obviously, oxytocin in such cases can be an excellent alternative.

The mechanism of the described action of the hormone is still unclear, although scientists suggest that oxytocin helps men through the dopaminergic system of the brain, which, among other things, is involved in the formation of sexual behavior and is responsible for obtaining sexual satisfaction.
