Despite the fact that sex should bring only pleasure and pleasure, some women feel a feeling of devastation, irritability and dissatisfaction after intimate relationships. However, this feeling may not be related to the attitude towards the partner.
Experts call this behavior illogical, because sex implies the appearance of pleasant sensations, arising as a consequence of the spiritual and physical affinity of two people.
The lead author of the study from the University of Queensland, Dr. Robert Schweitzer says: "Under normal circumstances, immediately after sex, there are feelings of well-being, as well as psychological and physical relaxation. But some people, instead of positive feelings, feel anguish, irritability and become very depressed. The reason for this phenomenon is not easy to explain, because this area has not been sufficiently studied. "
Scientists conducted a survey among 200 young women. It turned out that about one in three women (about 33%) experience negative emotions and longing after sexual intercourse. Some ladies have this constantly, and some experience these feelings at a certain moment. And the quality of sex was not related to the mood of women. Even if there were no problems in the intimate plan, and the woman was completely satisfied with her partner, still many crushed and even cried after sex.
This condition is called "postcoital dysphoria" and its causes, unfortunately, remain a mystery. Postcoital dysphoria can last from five minutes to two hours.
Scientists suggest that some women experience feelings of depression and sadness because of traumas in the past, which still take memory and are not forgotten. Also, the lack of joy, relaxation and positive emotions can be caused by hereditary and biological factors.
Postcoital dysphoria is a serious condition. To some people, in order to maintain peace of mind and nerves, sometimes it is even better not to have sex. Dr. Schweitzer is going to continue research and study the emotional characteristics of women prone to this condition.
