The staff of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences presented their new development, which consists of a completely new approach to the treatment of dental canals. The new technology allows for the treatment of teeth practically without pain and, in addition, such treatment will be quite affordable. This procedure is fundamentally different from the one currently used.

Treatment of root canals requires careful preparation, high professionalism, and it is often impossible to fully heal a root canal in one procedure. During treatment, the dentist first thoroughly cleans the canals, and then performs a procedure to fill the root canal with special solutions. According to the authors of the new method, first of all, there will be no need to fill the root canals with artificial materials, and in addition, with such treatment, problems with the integration of artificial material into the patient's body were often observed, which caused a number of side effects. According to the new technology, the dentist uses the patient's own stem cells and growth factors for their development. This technique is called SealBio. Stem cells help restore damaged tissue. In the case of the new method, stem cells in the root of the tooth grow, thereby restoring natural tissue in the tooth and filling the root canal. As a result of such treatment, the root canal is restored in a natural way, without causing side effects in the body, as when filling the canals with cementing materials. Gradual restoration and growth of tissue from stem cells is observed in the root canal. The recovery period depends on the severity of the root damage and the individual characteristics of the body and can take from several weeks to several months.

Doctors from the Institute of Medical Sciences noted that this treatment significantly simplifies the procedure for treating dental canals; in addition, the procedure does not require the use of additional equipment, takes less time and is not expensive.

During the research, the scientists conducted experiments on dozens of volunteers and observed the treatment results for five years, which turned out to be quite successful and encouraging. As Professor Hasnain from the School of Biological Sciences in India noted, this groundbreaking innovation can be the beginning of research on regenerative restoration of the body in other clinical cases in dentistry.

Stem cells are immature cells that are present in all multicellular organisms. Such cells have the ability to self-renew, divide and differentiate into new specialized cells, i.e. stem cells are capable of turning into cells of any organ or tissue of the body. Thanks to modern scientific advances, the use of stem cells is virtually unlimited and it is quite possible that in the future, thanks to such technologies, it will be possible to successfully treat a number of serious diseases.
