Surely, most housewives are firmly convinced that their kitchen is sterile clean. Most likely, outwardly it is so, but hidden threats that lurk in the kitchen can harm the health of the whole family.
A British health portal conducted a survey among 400 readers and 100 professional chefs to find out how well the cooking technology meets sanitary and hygienic requirements.
Vegetables and fruits are dangerous
68% of readers and 71% of professional chefs believe that the most risky and dangerous food for health is raw poultry meat, which carries an increased risk of intestinal infections and parasites entering the body. However, not many saw the danger in eating vegetables and fruits, but in fact, this is no less dangerous food if you cut them without washing them well first.
Thermometers in the kitchen
Only 29% of respondents reported that they sometimes use a thermometer to check whether meat is cooked enough, determining its stage of cooking. In fact, this device is not as useless as many people think, because it can easily tell whether all potentially harmful bacteria have been killed.
To destroy harmful bacteria, it is recommended to process products as follows:
Clean kitchen sponges
Getting infected with serious infectious diseases? Easy! But the most shocking thing is that the source of the threat is an ordinary kitchen sponge, which we use every day to wash dishes. Experts advise changing sponges and kitchen rags more often, and not using them until they become worn out.
Cutting boards
There should be at least two cutting boards in the kitchen - one for cutting meat and one for cutting vegetables. If all manipulations with meat and other products are done on one board, then the possibility of cross-infection of products cannot be ruled out.
Cleanliness in the refrigerator
A refrigerator is a household appliance without which it is difficult to imagine the life of a modern person. This device is irreplaceable, so it is simply necessary to maintain it in proper condition. To protect the health of the whole family, you need to regularly clean the refrigerator and clean all sections.
First, unceremoniously sort out the products whose expiration date has already expired, but even if the date indicated on the package still allows you to use the product, but it does not inspire confidence, then such products are crying out for the trash bin. After the food audit, you need to wash all the shelves and drawers of the refrigerator with hot water and soap, and then wipe dry.

Washing hands
After you have finished cooking, washing dishes or cleaning the refrigerator, be sure to wash your hands. According to the survey, only half of respondents do not forget about hand hygiene after doing work in the kitchen. It does not matter that you are at home and have not returned from the street. You must wash your hands, because germs live well between the fingers and very easily get into the mouth.
