Scientists have spent a lot of time studying the effects of food on the human body, but this relationship has not been fully studied. However, the main cause of chronic pain is inflammation. Experts have reason to believe that certain foods can help relieve inflammation.

Ilive presents a list of products, some of which can have a beneficial effect on a person's well-being, and some of which can relieve pain.

Salmon

Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids, which can reduce pain by acting on the site of inflammation. This makes salmon a very useful product, for example, for people with rheumatoid arthritis, who have a significantly increased risk of developing heart disease. Experts say that consuming omega-3 fatty acids also helps reduce the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis and alleviates the course of the disease.

Olive oil

Olive oil works in much the same way as omega-3 fatty acids, blocking the mechanism of pain in the body, i.e. affecting inflammation. It is better to replace butter with olive oil, because butter contains saturated fats, which reduce bone density and provoke pain.

Turmeric and ginger

These spices are very popular in India and other Asian countries. In addition to adding rich flavor to a dish, ginger has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. And turmeric contains curcumin, which scientists believe reduces kidney pain.

Milk

Some studies suggest that dairy products may help treat rheumatoid arthritis. A study by researchers at Iowa State University found that more than 30,000 women who got high doses of vitamin D from eating different types of dairy products had a lower risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis. However, a substance in milk called casein is deposited in joints and can cause harm.

Onion and garlic

Onions and garlic contain phytochemicals that help lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and reduce inflammation.

Raspberry, strawberry, blackberry

These berries contain anthocyanins – substances that prevent the development of hypertension and also reduce inflammation in the joints in gout and arthritis. In addition, vitamin C, which is part of the berries, is a powerful antioxidant that has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Whole grain bread (gluten)

People who are intolerant to foods containing gluten, a condition called celiac disease, have an increased risk of developing arthritis. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, and barley, as well as many grain products, including bread, pasta, and cereals. Some medications, vitamins, and lip balms may also contain gluten. Legumes, nuts, and rice can be used instead of the above foods.

Sweet drinks

There is no clear evidence linking sugary drinks to chronic pain, but almost all of them are low in nutrients and high in calories, which can contribute to weight gain. Obesity increases the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis by 24%.
