The risk of cancer depends not only on the frequency but also on the mode of smoking. This is the conclusion reached by experts after a series of studies.
It turns out that a morning cigarette, smoked half an hour after waking up, doubles the risk of developing not only lung cancer, but also neck and head cancer.
The study, conducted by Penn State College of Medicine in the US, involved 7,610 smokers, 4,776 of whom already had lung cancer and 2,835 were healthy.
During the experiment, it was found that people who lit up a cigarette immediately after waking up had a 79% higher chance of getting cancer. Moreover, the number of cigarettes smoked had absolutely no effect on this fact.
Another study of 1,850 smokers, 1,055 of whom had head and neck cancer, found that people who smoked a cigarette within half an hour of waking up were 59% more likely to develop cancer than those who waited more than an hour.
Thus, morning smoking puts people at risk for three types of cancer at once.
While some scientists are conducting research, others are ready to present their know-how. Thus, Italian scientists have developed a special method that increases the chances of quitting smoking even for a heavy smoker. This is a special nicotine-free plastic inhaler that will help overcome both physical and psychological dependence on smoking.
