People with increased tooth sensitivity can be helped by a special toothpaste that will restore tooth enamel. At one of the universities in Taiwan, specialists managed to develop a special material that works in particularly sensitive areas, building a kind of barrier. Scientists suggest that adding this component to toothpaste for sensitive teeth will significantly improve its effectiveness.

At this stage, specialists tested the effect of the new material on laboratory animals (dogs). Research showed that toothpaste with the addition of the new material eliminated increased tooth sensitivity for an average of two months.

The principle of action of the new material is based on penetration into the dentinal canals, then the material crystallizes and the canal is completely closed.

This allows you to get rid of pain for a long time. Dentin (the soft tissue of the tooth under the hard enamel) contains thousands of canals in which fluid is collected.

It is this liquid that causes pain when something cold or hot hits the tooth, or when eating something sweet. The movement of the liquid activates the receptors on the nerve endings in the tooth, causing severe pain. Dentin exposure usually occurs when the tooth enamel is worn down or damaged, or when the gum line is lowered.

Specialists have developed a new material with the addition of calcium carbonate and silicon dioxide to reliably seal the canals and start the restoration processes in the tooth enamel. The crystalline barrier created by the material is important not only as a barrier to dentin. Calcium ions contained in the new material penetrate the tooth and promote the restoration processes in the structure of the teeth. That is, the new toothpaste will help get rid of minor damage to the teeth.

In another study, experts found that it is especially harmful to tooth enamel.

After the London Olympics in 2012, a large number of athletes began to visit dental clinics. As it turned out, high carbohydrate content in the diet and consumption of sports drinks leads to the destruction of tooth enamel. As is known, athletes adhere to a carbohydrate diet, and during training and competitions they consume special drinks with high acidity, in addition, dry mouth appears during training, which also does not contribute to dental health.

Athletes who have dental problems often suffer from pain, various inflammations, they have problems sleeping and eating. In addition, such athletes become less confident and are often in a bad mood, and this immediately affects their athletic performance.

In Great Britain and North America, experts conducted a study and found that bad teeth are not uncommon among people involved in sports. The most common dental problems among athletes were caries, gum disease, and enamel erosion.

Experts also noted that most athletes prefer not to pay attention to their dental health, which further aggravates the situation.
