In Singapore, experts from the University of Biological Engineering and Nanotechnology have announced that green tea, a drink known worldwide for its health benefits, could help develop an effective cancer treatment.

Experts have long proven the benefits of green tea for humans. First of all, this drink helps to reduce cholesterol levels, improve blood circulation, and also prevents the development of cardiovascular diseases.

But recent research by experts has shown that green tea can also be used to develop a new drug against cancerous tumors.

Research conducted at the Singapore Institute of Biological Engineering and Nanotechnology has shown that green tea contains some chemicals that can be used as an excellent base for cancer treatment.

During their work, specialists determined that the catechins that make up the wonderful drink have anti-cancer properties.

In particular, green tea contains epigallocatechin gallate, which is what makes green tea so beneficial, according to experts, and it can be used to deliver the anti-cancer drug Herceptin directly to cancer cells.

As experts note, the antitumor drug Herceptin and epigallocatechin gallate create an effective and stable complex that helps deliver the drug directly to the tumor.

Dr. Zhu Zhong noted that drug carriers are one of the main factors, as a large amount can cause severe poisoning and lead to metabolic disorders in the body. Such negative effects can be eliminated if both the drug and the carrier have a therapeutic effect.

Experiments have shown that the introduction of a unique complex (Herceptin and epigallocatechin gallate) has a selective effect on cancerous growths, in addition, an increase in the half-life period is noted in blood plasma.

The experts expressed hope that the results of their work, which were published in one of the scientific journals, will help improve the drug delivery system.

It is worth noting that earlier at the University of Queensland, experts stated that the poisonous substance secreted by the cane toad could become a new effective drug against malignant tumors. Experts noted that the poison secreted by the toad is an effective means that helps in the fight against cancer.

These poisonous toads are the most common pest in Australia

Experts noted that the poison destroys cancer cells, while it is completely safe for healthy cells. This property of the poison was first discovered by Dr. Jing Jing, who also proved the similarity between the poisonous Asian toad, used by Chinese healers for several millennia, and the Australian cane toad.

Experts believe that the toad's venom is selectively toxic, as proven by studies in which the venom helped destroy prostate cancer cells.

However, untreated poisonous toxin can be deadly, so experts are currently trying to reduce the concentration of toxic substances without losing the unique properties of the poison.
