The results of one of the latest studies proved that tomatoes are very useful for women's health and are one of the best preventive means of developing malignant breast formations. Tomatoes should be consumed as often as possible and young girls and women in old age.
The results of the study showed that the addition of a sufficient amount of tomatoes in the diet helps to normalize the level of the hormone in the female body, which is responsible for regulating metabolism and reduces the risk of developing malignant tumors in the mammary glands.
As noted by the researchers themselves, in a glass of tomato juice there is the amount of lycopene necessary to the body per day (the strongest antioxidant that helps to prevent the development of malignant tumors of the prostate, lungs, stomach, etc.). Lycopene increases the body's hormone adiponectin, which is responsible for the normalization of fat levels and lowers the risk of obesity. In oncology, obesity is considered as one of the first causes contributing to the development of breast cancer.
The experiment involved seventy women who were over 55 years of age. All women have already experienced menopause and they were at increased risk for developing breast cancer (heredity, overweight, etc.).
For ten weeks, women every day drank tomato juice and used tomatoes. Every day, the body of women received at least 25 mg of lycopene. After the end of the research period, specialists measured the hormone level in the subjects and found that the amount of adiponectin increased by an average of 9%. In leaner women, the effect was much stronger. The author of the project, Adana Llanos, noted that nutrition, which includes a large number of tomatoes, has a positive effect on hormone levels more effectively if the woman's weight is within normal limits.
Tomatoes are the main source of lycopene, but there are other foods that contain this powerful antioxidant. In much smaller quantities you can find watermelons, pink grapefruits, apricots, guava, papaya. According to British researchers, the presence of lycopene in other foods lowers the value of the research conducted by their American counterparts.
One of the experts of the cancer research in the UK noted that the human diet includes a variety of foods, and some of them (in some cases, a combination of several products) can reduce the risk of cancer. It is impossible to say exactly how the use of one taken product affects the development of cancer processes. According to the expert, there is no need to begin to heavily lean on tomatoes. To reduce the risk of developing a malignant tumor of the breast, it is recommended to adhere to a healthy lifestyle (not to abuse alcohol, tobacco, properly and fully eat, exercise) and watch your own weight.
