A harmful addiction to alcohol in humans can appear for various reasons - stress, severe loss (eg, death of a loved one), problems at work, etc.

Recently, experts have identified another cause of alcoholism - an excessive desire to work (workaholism). People who are very tired at work often try to relax and relieve psychological stress with the help of various alcoholic drinks.

To such conclusions, scientists came after research more than three hundred thousand workers from different countries, including Germany, United States of America, Great Britain.

In the countries of the European Union, the working week lasts forty hours. In some companies, employees work more hours per week. The specialists established that during the working week 48 hours - the risk of alcohol dependence increases by 11%, with 56 hours of work per week - by 13%. Such conclusions are made on the basis of the survey, scientists suggest that in fact the situation can be much worse.

Psychologists have noticed one tendency - hard workers often encourage themselves with alcohol for a well-done job or a fruitful week. This is their personal motivation, while neither the social situation nor the country of residence mattered.

Also, according to the study, alcohol dependence was more common among men - workaholics.

Also, experts do not exclude that people in a depressed state often resort to alcohol to improve their mood, but they take several times more time to complete their work assignments, and the work assignments can be reworked several times. At the same time, the more hours a person worked a week, the lower his physical activity.

The findings of the experts will form the basis of the new recommendations that the European Union on Occupational Health will make.

In earlier studies, it was revealed that the employee's skills and abilities are affected by the company's economic position at the beginning of the work path. As shown by studies of specialists from Toronto, the productivity of the work will be higher for a person if the initial experience in the company coincides with the experience received later. In other words, the quality of the experience gained is important for success, but not its quantity.

If a person came to work for a company in a favorable period, then he opens many prospects for the development of his professional skills. Employees who started their work at difficult times for the firm, gain experience in adapting to complex situations. But when the situation changed in one direction or another, both those workers and the other workers turned out to be at a disadvantage. For example, an employee who received first experience during the heyday of the firm, in most cases is not able to come up with a way out of the crisis situation. And for someone who is sewn into a crisis, it will be hard to start working at a new, faster pace in times that are favorable to the firm.

As noted by experts, the best option for the employee will be a period when the company is working as usual, in this case, the first work experience obtained will coincide with the acquired skills in a later period.

Experts suggest that the employer should provide the new employee with the opportunity to work in normal conditions, if the period of arrival of a new employee coincides with the period of the company's heyday or crisis, it should slow down a little or speed up its work by entrusting relevant projects.
