Alopecia or hair loss is quite common, especially among the male half of humanity. Specialists from the pharmaceutical company Samumed reported that they managed to develop a truly effective remedy for this pathology, which will help not only men, but also women. Specialists have proven that with pathological hair loss, certain failures occur in the human body, the Samumed company has created an external drug that includes the molecular substance SM04554. According to the developers, systematic rubbing of the product into problem areas of the scalp will help get rid of bald spots - and the effectiveness of the new product, which has not yet been given a commercial name, has been proven during clinical trials.
According to some data, about 20% of women in the world suffer from alopecia, and many more "bald" men. Currently, the pharmaceutical market and doctors are practically powerless against this pathology. Today, one of the truly effective treatment options is the hormonal drug Finasteride, but in men this drug can provoke erectile dysfunction.
The new hair loss remedy is a solution for external use, which, as already mentioned, contains SM04554 (a molecular substance). The solution helps open signaling channels in cells that not only cause but also support hair growth (it is the reduction in the number of these channels that is one of the causes of androgenic alopecia, the most common form of hair loss).
The group of pharmacists tested their drug on volunteers (men aged 18 to 55), who used the new medicine for 3 months.
As a result, it was found that in less than 5 months the amount of hair increases significantly, and its density increases several times.
It is worth noting that all participants were divided into several groups, one of which received a placebo, the other two used a 0.15% and 0.25% solution of the new drug.
The opening of the Samumed company, if the drug is approved for widespread use, can become a real salvation for a huge number of people who have encountered this problem. Baldness leads to a deterioration in the emotional and mental state of most people with this problem, in addition, there is the development of complexes about their own appearance.
Millions of men and women worldwide suffer from alopecia, but only two drugs have been approved for use in recent years.
The developers of the new drug shared their achievements at a meeting of dermatologists, which takes place annually in the United States.
Another research group working in the same direction stated that damage to the skin promotes new hair growth.
According to scientists, wounds on the skin make epidermal cells "work" like stem cells - hair follicles begin to develop and hair grows. The scientists made their conclusions based on observations of laboratory rats, which were specially damaged and treated with a special agent to activate the gene responsible for hair growth.
