Specialists from France reported that the popular Brazilian hair removal today can be dangerous to health. Hair removal, according to experts, can lead to skin infection. As a result of hair removal, microtraumas are formed on the skin, in which favorable conditions for reproduction and further development of molluscum contagiosum are created.
Molluscum contagiosum is a dangerous viral skin disease that can be transmitted through household items or direct contact with an infected person. According to statistics, most often the infection occurs in children under 12 years old. In adults, a typical infectious disease is accompanied by the formation of a pale pink skin on the surface of the skin. Skin formations are not accompanied by painful sensations, therefore the disease often passes unnoticed. This causative agent belongs to the group of smallpox viruses and can affect only humans, without affecting the health of animals. Medicine knows several types of this virus, one of them is transmitted sexually and, accordingly, occurs in adults. The most susceptible to infection are those who have impaired immune system.
Immediate signs of infection are the formations on the skin, which are also called papules. They appear mainly on the hips, hands. Belly and genitals. The disease is almost never accompanied by pain, so you can notice it only paying attention to the tubercles that have arisen on the skin.
Papules may not be hollow, but have a so-called core of light, almost white.
Recently, experts associate an infectious disease with a popular method of removing unwanted hair. The relationship between cutaneous viral disease and Brazilian epilation was established by experts from Nice after a short period of time to the dermatologist of one of the clinics received several people with the virus of the molluscum contagiosum. The specialists of the clinic reported that within one year with this disease, more than 30 people applied to them.
It was noteworthy that 27 out of 30 people were infected with the virus of the molluscum contagiosum after visiting the cosmetology salon. Four patients a week after visiting the beautician found unknown formations on the skin of the abdomen, three - on the inside of the thigh, and the rest - on the genitals and skin around the genitals.
The doctors managed to find out that almost all patients underwent hair removal in the beauty salon with the help of wax or shaving. In addition to infecting molluscum contagiosum, other unpleasant effects of epilation have been noticed in patients: hair growth, small warts and scars that occur in case of inaccurate handling of shaving accessories.
Studies conducted earlier showed that with the moment of popularity of beauty salons and professional hair removal, the number of women entering hospitals with genital injuries increased significantly. Experts believe that hobby for caring for one's own body can be dangerous and cause negative consequences. However, the fact that hair removal has become popular, there is an undeniable positive moment: the problem of pubic lice almost disappeared.
