Strong black tea is one of the most favorite drinks of modern man. It is drunk with milk, with sugar or with lemon; depending on habits or traditions - in the morning, at lunch or in the evening. Each of us has at least some kinds of tea in the kitchen cupboard, and the menu in the catering establishments amazes with a variety of types of black, green, herbal tea.
A new study conducted by experts from the Kingdom of the Netherlands showed that black tea is most useful for middle-aged men, since it can save them from a disease such as prostate cancer. Doctors say that if a man daily consumes at least 400 milliliters (in other words, at least two mugs) of strong tea, the risks of prostate cancer decline in him by more than a third.
To this conclusion, Dutch scientists from the University of Maastricht came after a study of eating habits of about 900 local male residents. Experts interviewed 892 middle-aged men who had prostate cancer and the same number of perfectly healthy men of about the same age. After analyzing the data obtained, scientists managed to find out that in men who drink at least two mugs of strong black tea every day, prostate cancer meets by 37-40% less frequently than in men who limit themselves to one cup of tea or do not drink it at all.
The head of the study believes that the beneficial and restoring properties of black tea are associated with a high content of polyphenols, which are the best antioxidants.
This study disproved the view that coffee and cocoa have a beneficial effect on the body of a person with cancer. The results showed that coffee has no effect on the formation of malignant tumors. Until now, various opinions have been spread among scientists about both negative and positive effects of coffee on the onset of cancer.
In 2012, British scientists suggested that too much black tea consumed could increase the risk of developing prostate cancer, but since no evidence was provided, the theory was not popular among specialists.
The study, which was conducted in the Netherlands this year, proved that a large amount of tea not only can not be considered harmful, but can also have a strong anti-cancer effect on the health of middle-aged men. At the moment, experts are conducting additional research on the constituents of the drink in order to accurately report the component that is salutary. According to preliminary data, polyphenols (catechins), which are found in large quantities in black, green and Chinese white tea, can protect healthy human cells from cancer cells, preventing them from spreading. Of course, you need to be extremely careful when choosing a tea and do not stop your attention on tea bags containing only dust and tea crumbs.
It is interesting that the 2010 studies proved the positive effect that tea has on the female body. It turns out that women who drink at least one cup of hot black tea every day are 10% less likely to suffer from ovarian cancer than those who neglect this wonderful drink.
