When using intrauterine devices, there may be both complications and undesirable side effects. With the introduction of intrauterine devices, it is possible to develop complications such as perforation of the uterus (0.2%). The use of an intrauterine device can be accompanied by the appearance of inflammatory diseases of the internal genital organs (16-18%). In addition, women with IUDs often have a change in the menstrual cycle, manifested as the development of algodismenorea, hyperpolymenorrhoea, especially in the first months of use of contraceptives (27-40%). After 3-4 years, with the use of intrauterine devices, women can develop hyperplastic endometrial processes, which will also lead to an increase in the monthly volume. Some patients (1-2%) may have an expulsion of the contraceptive.
