In Germany, scientists have managed to make a real breakthrough in the field of HIV treatment, which, by the way, has long been expected from scientists. Specialists managed to develop a drug that not only effectively restrains the main manifestations of this disease, but also destroys the virus in the body. By the way, earlier all scientists agreed that it was impossible to destroy the virus.
Now the discovery of Hamburg scientists allows patients with HIV around the world to hope for a full recovery. German experts conducted many experiments before they could find a way to extract certain cells from the blood, infected with the immunodeficiency virus. Based on their research, scientists developed a drug called Brec1, which helps against the most common form of the immunodeficiency virus.
Now, after scientists managed to create a cure for HIV, there was a hope for the successful deliverance of mankind from one of the most terrible diseases that ever hit humanity.
Specialists noted that the effectiveness of the new drug has already been confirmed by experiments with laboratory rodents and clinical trials. In the course of research, scientists injected cells infected with the immunodeficiency virus to the rodents, which were subsequently successfully removed. As a result, all animals were successfully cured of HIV infection.
But in public this method of treatment has not been tested yet, experts doubt its effectiveness. But in the near future, scientists plan to conduct trials with human volunteers and hope that the test results will be as successful as previous tests with laboratory animals.
It is worth noting that recently, American specialists have provided a report on the successful testing of the drug against HIV. The results of the work of scientists from the United States became known at the beginning of this year - experts have already conducted the first stages of the study of a drug called VRC01, which was developed specifically to combat infection by specialists from the National University of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
According to the information received, 23 patients with HIV took part in clinical trials of the new drug, among whom the majority received antiretroviral therapy, and 8 people received almost no special drugs.
The participants were divided into 2 groups, one group was injected twice as an injection with a break of 28 days, the second group was treated with a new agent only once. As a result, scientists have determined that VRC01 is well tolerated by patients and almost does not cause side effects. Also scientists managed to establish that against the background of treatment in the body antibodies are being developed that help to cope with the virus and not harm the general condition. Experts found that after one injection, the virus content in the blood decreased by a factor of 10 in the participants in the experiment.
Now, based on the data obtained, scientists are preparing to conduct new stages of the study of the drug VRC01, to exclude errors and confirm the effectiveness and safety of use for humans.
As you can see, scientists do not stand still and make progress in the field of HIV treatment and, probably, soon, specialists will be able to offer a truly effective treatment for patients with a disappointing diagnosis of HIV.
