At the University of California, scientists have found that conservation does not harm the human body, as was previously thought. Specialists noted that proper nutrition implies the use of vegetables and fruits, however, in canned form, these products were considered harmful to health, since they contain a lot of salt and sugar, and all useful substances are destroyed during the heat treatment.
Specialists studied the health status of more than 40 thousand people (adults and children), the attention of researchers was drawn to the diet of volunteers and the general quality of nutrition and found that during conservation preserve nutrients, so they are not so harmful to health.
As a result of observations, it was found that people who had preserved foods had a slightly higher average quality score of the diet than those who did not eat at all, while the children had similar results.
About 11% of the participants of the experiment used to conserve each day and as scientists found out, their body received a certain amount of some useful substances, but at the same time the amount of fat, sugar and calorie content increased. Also, scientists noted that, regardless of whether people used canned food or not, blood pressure, weight and other indicators did not differ significantly, and the levels of sugar and salt in the diet of all participants in the experiment were also approximately the same.
Among the children, experts found that with canned vegetables and fruits, the child receives more calcium, magnesium, vitamin A and protein.
Researchers have suggested that lovers of regaining conservation can eat fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits, in which, as is known, the maximum amount of nutrients remains.
Scientists say that you should not give up conservation, but give priority to those products that contain a minimum amount of sugar or salt. Also, before consuming canned vegetables or fruits, it is recommended to drain the juice and rinse it well.
Scientists at the University of California made another interesting discovery - in their opinion, in order to normalize your weight, you do not need to change your diet or restrict yourself to eating, just start chewing slower.
Scientists urge parents to teach their children to chew food slowly, making a break between each bite on average 25-30 seconds. This approach will allow the child to understand in time when he ate, thereby avoiding overeating.
The experts studied the state of health of children aged 6 to 17 during the year, 54 children took part in the project. All the participants were divided into groups, in one the children had to chew food slowly, in the second one they did not, and a control group was also created with which the results were compared at the end of the experiment.
A year later, the scientists were amazed - a year later the weight of children from the first group decreased by an average of 4%, the weight of children from the second group increased by an average of 10% (in the control group, the children recovered on average by 7%).
