In the Dominican Republic, experts have discovered an unusual type of people who mutate and change their sex during adolescence, without surgery or taking any medications. As it turned out, during the transition years, girls without outside interference changed the sex, they showed not only secondary male sexual characteristics, but also grew a penis.
The story of the unique children was told in the film BBC2, which described the development of a person, from the first days of conception, about the changes in the womb taking place within the womb with the embryo and how some factors can affect life in the future.
The main character of the film was a young guy. 24-year-old Johnny of the Dominican Republic, as in other cases, initially he was brought up as a girl, since at birth he was mistaken for a girl because of the lack of expressed masculine signs. Only during the period of hormonal adjustment, Johnny began to appear penis.
The young man himself told that in his childhood he was called Felicita, and like other girls, he wore dresses and plaited braids. After the change of sex, Johnny began to be mocked by his peers, at school, the children called him the devil and the only way out, which at that time found for himself Johnny-Felicity, was to fight his abusers.
Another unique child who naturally changed the floor was Karl's girl, who at about the age of 7 began to turn into a boy.
The researchers were interested in this phenomenon, and they decided to find out the causes of this mutation.
It is worth noting that similar work was carried out 40 years ago and, as it turned out, chromosomes are the cause of the mutation.
In the first 14 days of embryo formation, he is asexual, about 8 weeks later the embryo develops genital organs. If the male embryo, then the process of formation of the testes corresponds to the Y-chromosome, then the testes begin to produce the male sex hormone testosterone. In the case of the female embryo, the X chromosome is responsible for this process. At 9-10 weeks, the embryo begins to form a penis or clitoris.
As the study showed in embryos of mutant children, or as scientists called gevedos, there is no enzyme of 5-alpha-reductase, which is why the primary sexual characteristics in newborns were hidden. It is for this reason that sex was determined only in the adolescent period, when certain changes began in the body, active production of testosterone occurred, and not only secondary, but also primary sexual characteristics were manifested.
It is worth noting that people who at birth were mistakenly attributed to another gender do not differ from those whose sex was clear from birth. For example, Johnny may have on the face or body no pronounced vegetation, typical of most men, but he can normally have sex and is able to have children.
This study helped scientists develop medicines for men who with age begin to grow bald or suffer from prostate adenoma.
