Many people who struggle with extra pounds, know about the need to follow a strict diet and exercise, and will be skeptical about the promise that fat itself will go away during sleep or rest.

But for science there is practically nothing impossible, and scientists have found a genetic "switch" that is built into every fat cell, when it acts on it, the metabolism begins to occur faster and as a result the body starts to burn excess fat, and even physical loads are not required.

Studies on laboratory rodents have shown a good effectiveness of the new method - after activating the "switch" the mice lost almost twofold.

During the study of human fat, it was found that the genetic "switch" can also be used to treat obesity in humans.

This effect on genes was discovered relatively recently, so it will take several more years for the tests to be widely used.

To date, obesity is a serious problem, in the world of this disease affects more than half a million people. Only in the United States each year for the treatment of obesity is spent $ 200 billion. Because of obesity, most deaths occur, excess kilograms provoke heart and vascular diseases, diabetes, cancerous tumors.

A professor at Cambridge University said that obesity is a scourge of modern society and if it becomes possible to manage metabolism at the genetic level, this will be a real salvation.

In earlier studies, scientists found that the FTO gene has a close connection with obesity, but until recently, specialists have not been able to determine the principle of the action of these genes and how its mutations affect the weight of a person.

In the latest work of scientists, two more intracellular genes IRX3 and IRX5, which are involved in the metabolic process, were identified.

To lose weight you need to burn more calories than you consume, so a person who wants to lose weight should not only keep to a diet, but also play sports.

In the body, there is another process of fat burning, called thermogenesis, which is activated under certain conditions, for example, in cold weather, this process helps to keep the heat of internal organs.

The IRX3 and IRX5 genes are those "switches" that activate the process of thermogyny. During studies on laboratory rodents, it was found that the suspension of the IRX3 gene increases the energy of burning and promotes weight loss, while the rodents are not restricted in eating and do not increase the level of physical activity. In addition, the mice showed resistance to fatty foods.

Studies on human fat cells have shown that the suspension of the above genes improves the fat burning process in people with a tendency to obesity at the genetic level. Also, feedback was established: when the IRX3 and IRX5 genes were activated, the rate of fat burning decreased in people who did not have any predisposition to obesity.

According to scientists, this discovery is important. Obesity can be associated with changes in the body at the cellular level, and genetic impact can be a significant addition to diet and exercise.
