With stroke, there is a rupture of blood vessels in the brain. This disease is serious enough and often leads to death. After a stroke, a person may develop various mental disorders, as well as paralysis or coma. When stroke is extremely important to provide a person with timely medical help to minimize the negative consequences.

Specialists from the United States have been able to find a way through which it is possible to reduce the level of damage to the brain substance in a stroke. In one of the health organizations, specialists have developed a new method that will enable physicians to deal with the serious consequences of the disease. The search for the method lasted a rather long period, because the human body is able to independently develop special substances necessary for recovery.

Scientists have determined that the AcSDKP peptide can reduce brain damage that may occur after an ischemic stroke, also known as cerebral infarction. With such a pathology, blood clots are blocked by a thrombus, which leads to oxygen starvation of the brain. Usually, tPA protein is used to control thrombi, however, this method of treatment should be used only in the very first hours after a stroke, otherwise the effectiveness of treatment will be significantly reduced. In addition, the protein can lead to hemorrhage in the brain.

The study of this method on rodents made it possible to determine that the AcSDKP peptide used in the treatment of heart diseases can enhance the therapeutic effect of the tPA protein, and also increases the time during which the patient can be effectively treated and prevented brain damage. In addition, the peptide AcSDKP - if used after a stroke in the first hour - can work independently. As it was found out, the peptide well overcomes the blood-brain barrier, which prevents the penetration of other neuroprotective drugs. All these studies give great hope, since this kind of treatment did not lead to bleeding and the formation of new blood clots. According to scientists, soon a new method of treatment can be tested in a clinical setting.

Stroke is currently the second most common fatal disease. According to WHO statistics, in the world more than six million people die each year from a stroke. Most often, death occurs as a result of untimely medical care, when others could not recognize the symptoms of a stroke and call an ambulance. The main signs of the disease are the inability to move the hand or foot (especially on one side), numbness, decreased skin sensitivity, a person can not gesticulate, suddenly there are severe headaches, nausea, vision deteriorates, general coordination of movements is disturbed, a person is unable to perceive the speech of others, There are also problems with pronunciation, completely or partially lack of self-control.
