A lot of polls show that a visit to the dentist is a huge stress for most. But it's easy to explain - a good anesthesia quite recently was almost inaccessible to ordinary citizens, and all the manipulations of the dentist brought the person suffering. But even now, when most methods of anesthesia are available in most dental clinics, people continue to fear dentists. Perhaps general anesthesia in the treatment of teeth would help to solve such a problem.

General anesthesia, or rather general anesthesia, has been used in medicine for quite some time, about 40 years. At first, such anesthesia was used only for long and complex operations (restoration of gum tissue and jaw after accidents, purulent lesions, etc.). Local anesthesia, as a rule, was used for simpler manipulations in the oral cavity. In principle, local anesthesia is now widely used in dentistry, with only one difference - local anesthesia has now reached a fairly high level and is used for almost all types of dental services. However, recently, clinics are increasingly offering treatment under general anesthesia. What is the reason for this?

In a person under general anesthesia, the reaction of the peripheral and central nervous systems decreases, he is in a state of medical sleep. Various drugs are used to introduce into the state of general anesthesia - intravenous, gaseous. An anesthesiologist and resuscitator should monitor the patient's condition until he leaves the state of anesthesia. Deep anesthesia refers to borderline states, i.e. When a person literally is on the verge between life and death. Therefore, the doctor must be able at the right time to resuscitate the patient, otherwise even a lethal outcome is possible. Doctors themselves do not recommend joking with deep anesthesia, and if possible, refuse to use it. But not a few modern dental clinics offer under general anesthesia to treat tooth decay, seal canals, remove plaque. As an argument, one person can perform several procedures in one visit, without experiencing stress from the kind of instruments, buzzing devices, etc. Moreover, immediately after anesthesia one can go on business, drive a car, etc.

But the list of dental procedures in which general anesthesia is needed is rather short: preparation for implantation of teeth, complicated cases of hard gum tissue damage, etc. In addition, it is impossible at one time to solve all the existing problems with the oral part. In some cases, treatment takes a certain amount of time, for example, it takes time to act on the medicine injected into the canal, the kostezamenitel has hardened, in general, that the body undergoes certain preparatory and restorative work before the final stage of treatment.

Also, many sites of dental clinics do not mention contraindications, special conditions for the use of general anesthesia. Practically all clinics advertise mask anesthesia (gaseous) as a modern and safe anesthetic, which can be used even in infants. Here there is some truth: modern gaseous anesthesia is much more easily tolerated than obsolete means to-day, and the withdrawal from the body occurs many times faster. However, there is one nuance here before making a general anesthesia, you need to pass several tests and visit a neurologist, therapist, laura to exclude possible contraindications to this type of anesthesia. For example, you need to be extremely cautious about general anesthesia for violations of the heart rhythm, adenoids, liver diseases. Therefore, you should not hurry to sign the papers, according to which all the responsibility will lie on you, until then experts will not confirm that the general anesthesia is not contraindicated to you.

In addition, statistics indicate that most of the medical errors in the treatment of teeth occur precisely under general anesthesia (removal of another tooth, insertion of the wrong implant, etc.). Separately it is necessary to tell about the general or common narcosis at treatment of a teeth at small children. Pediatricians in this case unanimously declare that this requires pretty good reasons, and the whims and crying of the child is not a reason to put the baby at serious risk.
