Specialists from Stanford University were able to trace the relationship between gender and suicidal tendencies. It turned out that the male representatives are several times more likely to commit suicide attempts, which often lead to a fatal outcome. The media published the results of studies that proved that men are several times more likely to attempt suicide than women.
Statistics show that the most often trying to commit suicide are lonely young men, whom, in their opinion, are not kept in this world by either the family or close relatives. Among women, the number of misunderstood and desperate is much less. In most cases, if a woman attempts suicide, she can observe complex mental abnormalities that require specialist attention.
Suicide is usually divided into two types: true or truthful and demonstrative, which are also called parasuicides. The main difference is that the real purpose of the parasuiticide is not to deprive yourself of life, but to attract attention. Doctors believe that a person, during the attempted suicide, thus pays attention to himself and his problems. True suicide is usually a carefully planned action, which in most cases ends tragically. If the main goal of a person is deprivation of oneself of life, and not a cry for help, then such an attempt ends, if I may say so, successfully. Among the causes of suicide, the most common social causes, reasons related to personal problems, medical reasons and mental illness.
Specialists regularly conduct research, the purpose of which is to identify special risk groups for people prone to suicide. For example, European scientists found that young people are twice as likely to commit suicide as elderly people. In addition to age, researchers took into account gender, social status, the presence of chronic and mental diseases. A few years ago at a European university, it was found that male representatives were four times more likely to commit suicide than women. In turn, women attempt suicide more often than men. Among men at risk are the unemployed and those people who are considered unskilled and not very valuable employees. If to compare, then the cause of suicide in women can be either a personal cause (for example, unhappy love or a family drama) or a mental disorder (schizophrenia, severe depression). The suicidal tendencies of men are more affected by social status, respect for society.
American scientists who have recently proved that men are three times more likely to commit suicide are confident that the problem can only be solved by the qualified psychological help of medical specialists.
