It has long been known that milk and dairy products in abundance contain a mass of nutrients necessary for human health. The other day, scientists from the University of Harvard came to a conclusion that, no doubt, like older people and people who are overweight. As a result of studies of the effect of dairy products on the human body, physicians determined that products with a low fat content are most useful.
Older people are recommended to eat foods with a low percentage of fat content daily (up to 5%). Adding these products to the diet will help strengthen the bone tissue, which is especially important in the winter season, when due to ice, the trauma centers are overcrowded. Doctors say that fatty dairy products do not have such a beneficial effect.
In people after 50 years, bone tissue becomes weakened, which causes frequent damage. During the study, British scientists noted that people who daily consume at least 300 grams of any low-fat dairy product have a bone tissue more resistant to external stimuli. The study provided for a sociological survey in which more than 3,000 people took part. Participants in detail answered questions about the daily diet, and also underwent a survey. The result showed that people who eat lean dairy products every day, the amount of vitamin D and calcium is significantly higher than those who ignore dairy products. The positive point is also that the use of dairy does not affect the amount of fat in the body, and fatty dairy products, such as cream, ice cream, rustic cottage cheese - do not have a positive effect on the body.
Doctors say that the use of low-fat dairy products can prevent from such a disease as osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a systemic disease of the skeleton, which is characterized by a weakening of bone tissue, increased fragility of bones and a decrease in their density. Fighting the disease can be through a special diet, aimed at the intake of substances such as calcium, animal protein and vitamin D. Since the disease is mainly affected by the elderly and old people, the appointment of these substances doctors are approached with caution: too much vitamin D can cause atherosclerosis, and the amount of calcium should not exceed 1300-1500 mg / day.
Doctors recommend using calcium in a soluble form (the best option is sour-milk products), and the ratio of fat and calcium should be 1:10, otherwise calcium is not well absorbed by the body. The best prevention of osteoporosis is called regular use of low-fat liquid dairy products. A few glasses of milk or kefir daily can save people older than 50-60 years from the weakening of bone tissue and the formation of diseases associated with insufficient intake of calcium and vitamin D in the body.
