Chocolate is not only a delicious treat favorite by many, but also an excellent remedy for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, chocolate wraps will help to make the skin smooth and velvety.

Chocolate is a very useful and tasty product, and if you list all its useful properties, then there will not be enough fingers on your hands, especially since to all the benefits one more thing has been added - it turns out that chocolate can help with a chronic cough that affects a lot of people. With such a tasty medicine, not only is it not scary, but also pleasant.

In the study of scientists, about 300 people took part, who complained of an impassable, intrusive cough. Clinical trials were conducted in 13 hospitals of the National Health Service.

The results of the research are described in the pages of the scientific journal "NewScientist".

"The cough that has plagued our patients is often the result of a viral infection. He is difficult to treat and can torture a person for weeks. Because opioid-containing drugs can cause side effects, patients can not use them in large doses, "says Alin Maurice, the lead author of the study.

Within 14 days, specialists gave patients tablets containing a component that is part of cocoa - theobromine.

It was found that 60% of the people who participated in the study felt relief.

Experts say that the tile of dark chocolate contains a sufficient number of active ingredients that can calm the cough.

Specialists suggest that this effect is achieved due to the effect of theobromine, which affects the endings of the vagus nerve, which connects the brain and the respiratory tract of the lungs.

To finally make sure of the correctness of their findings, experts investigated the effect of theobromine on guinea pigs. As it turned out in the course of the experiment, theobromine is actually able to neutralize the depolarization of the nerve end of the vagus nerve. In addition, according to scientists, when using theobromine in patients, there are no undesirable and side effects that are often encountered with the use of other drugs.

"The results look promising," comments Dr. Maurice. "A chronic cough affects millions of people around the world, and most drugs that can help relate to opiates or contain codeine that is a drug. Unfortunately, the harm from using such funds may exceed the benefit. "

Dr. Maurice says that often an obsessive, persistent cough is observed in people with lung diseases and therefore their discovery can be the basis for developing new methods of treatment.

However, experts, nevertheless, note that despite the absence of visible side effects in chocolate, in particular, theobromine, it is necessary to consult with a doctor before starting chocolate therapy.
