Drinking to the good does not bring, but it can give a bouquet of diseases, consisting of cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease and many other ailments.
Scientists from the University of Liverpool argue that drinking can be won, and most importantly - they know how. The results of the research of scientists were published in the pages of the scientific journal "Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology".
Now there are dozens of ways to cure alcoholism, but it helps a little and the person starts drinking again. But scientists who have developed a new computer program say that this is a very effective way, which is able to help a person suffering addiction.
The purpose of this development is the development of automatic self-monitoring of alcoholic drinks among drinkers.
Volunteers who agreed to take the test of the new program were divided into two groups. Participants of both groups were given the task to press the button as soon as they see an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink on the screen. At the same time, the speed with which the experimental subjects react was very important for specialists. One group signal was given during the appearance on the screen of the image of the alcoholic beverage, while in the other group it did not sound with the appearance of pictures with alcohol. As soon as the signal to stop the task sounded, the participants had to finish it immediately.
During the test participants of both groups had the opportunity to perform the task and drink beer at the same time. As a result, it was found that volunteers from the first team drank beer less and showed more restraint and attention than the participants in the second group.
"We wanted to find out if a drinking person can control himself automatically with regard to consumption of alcohol. We hoped that in this way it could help solve the burning problem and change the entrenched habits, - the study authors comment. " Soon experts plan to release an online version of a new alcohol program, which, experts hope, will help to defeat alcohol dependence for many people.
