Early marriages are their danger

On October 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed October 11 International Girls Day, in order to draw public attention to the problems of future women they face throughout the world.
At the UN headquarters in New York, several events took place, during which reports were heard by the world organizations that highlighted the problems of violation of the rights of underage children. In particular, the early marriages and risks associated with early marriage were discussed.

The report of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) states that more than 30% of girls from developing countries marry before they reach 18 years of age. Approximately 14% are married before the age of 15. Girls become mothers aged 15-19 years, and annually in such unions, there are 16 million babies, which makes up 11% of the total number of births in the world.
As the number of such marriages increases, the number of children born, respectively, also increases, and at the same time the death rate among young mothers also increases.
According to experts, the younger a girl, the more likely that she is expected complications during labor, representing a serious risk to the health of both the mother and the child.
In addition, children born to underage mothers are no less threatened. They die twice as often as they are under one year of age, than their peers, born by women, who have reached the age of 20.
Child marriage is a violation of human rights. Preventing such unions will help reduce the likelihood of violent action against young girls, reduce the threat of death from complications in pregnancy, and reduce the risk of transmitting sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.
The following tendency is traced: most often, girls with a low level of education enter into marriage or early marriage is the reason why the study for the girl ends. Conversely, the situation changes if the girl graduated from high school. Then the probability that she will get married is reduced by six times. Therefore, one of the methods used to combat early marriages is to provide adolescent girls with access to education.
Representatives of the United Nations Population Fund said that over the next five years will be allocated 20 million dollars to support underage girls, women in 12 countries, with the highest rates of early marriage.
