British researchers called Kiev the dirty capital of Europe. The main problems of the city, they identified landfills and gassed air, but the biggest trouble - water.
"Kievvodokanal" purifies the water from the Desna several times with chlorine and filters. However, Vladislav Goncharuk, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Academician of NASU and Director of the Institute of Colloid Chemistry and Water Chemistry, does not dare to drink such water. "Tap water is not drinking, it is really of very poor quality - it does not cause any doubts," the scientist claims.
The biggest problem, according to the academician, is chemicals that purify water. However, it is not yet possible to prove this documentary, since The state sanitary station still does not know what qualitative water means. DSTU Soviet times were abolished two years ago, and new state regulations were not adopted. This is a unique case in the world, Goncharuk is indignant. "Therefore, there is no sense in talking about water compliance with any standards at all," he said.
As a Sanitary Station allows drinking water, the purity of which can not be determined, the service declined to comment.
Meanwhile, the conclusions of the academician are opposed by the chief engineer of the Desnyanskaya waterworks station Valery Olenchenko. "I and my family use tap water," he assures.
The chief engineer admits: because of the sewerage and insoluble detergents, the water in the Dnieper and Desna has deteriorated many times since the opening of the sewage treatment plant. And the equipment of the station for 60 years almost did not change. "By and large, the station needs technical reconstruction," he admits. But how much millions are needed for this, and in what currency - it can not even be imagined.
Modernize the equipment of "Kievvodokanal" promise by 2020. How the composition of the water in the rivers will change until then, it is impossible to predict in the laboratory. Prior to this, quality control will be based on old proven technology and standards that are not.
