An international team of scientists from the University of Otago found that vitamin C speeds up the process of dying off tumors in patients with brain cancer , foreign media report.

High doses of vitamin C facilitate radiation therapy and kill brain tumor cells in cancer patients, scientists have established. They analyzed the survival of cancer cells in patients taking vitamin C with radiation therapy, and in patients who did not.

It turned out that radiation-resistant forms of the tumor become more vulnerable to it after exposure to a high dose of vitamin C in the patient's body. To kill harmful cells after exposure to the vitamin becomes much easier.

During the tests on animals, a number of cancer cells were discovered that destroy vitamin C. When used in the body, tumor-free free radicals that do not touch healthy cells are produced. A sufficient concentration of these free radicals can be achieved only by injection.

Note that the tests are not yet complete. Scientists are conducting a number of studies on the effect of a high dose of vitamin C on the quality of tumor treatment.
