Most officials buy medicines in the EU

The vast majority of officials because of the high level of falsification of medicines in Ukraine, purchases medicines in the EU. This was said by People's Deputy of Ukraine Valery Konovalyuk.
"The vast majority of officials buy medicines in the EU countries and they talk about it quite freely, rather than really control the quality of drugs through the activities of our supervisory bodies." Officials understand that a drug that is sold in Ukrainian pharmacies may be substandard and inflict certain harm to health, "added V.Konovalyuk.
The People's Deputy also added that the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov formed the Council headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev, who will directly deal with the problem of drug fraud.
"By the way, the creation of this Council is argued by the fact that one of the members of the Cabinet has barely survived after using low-quality and falsified medicines, that is, no one is immune from this situation.This is already a problem of Ukraine's national security and today there are all mechanisms to overcome this terrible and immoral problem ", added the People's Deputy.
Note that the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych signed on October 12 the Law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Prevention of Counterfeiting of Medicines", which will come into force after publication.
The law provides for criminal liability in the form of imprisonment for up to 3 years, and in case the crime is repeated - up to 5 years, for the manufacture, storage and sale of counterfeit medicines.
