Grandmother from the town of Nobsville (Ind.) Recently celebrated her birthday for the hundredth time. She herself claims that she did not think she would live for so many years, she never led a healthy lifestyle and almost daily eaten food called fast food.
Dorothy Fletcher - that's the name of the long-loner, told her that her weakness is cheeseburgers, fried potatoes and colas. Dorothy assures that she has never even tried to organize a healthy diet or make adjustments to the habitual way of life.
Scientists are not the first time to find long-livers, who do not have the most healthy habits. For a long time, specialists were observing the venerable old people who could easily drink alcohol, neglect healthy foods, often face stress - and yet live longer than other people. According to scientists, incomprehensible longevity can be explained by a gene mutation, due to which the cellular structures in the body acquire immunity to the processes of degeneration associated with age.
The mutations in question were investigated as early as 2011 by experts from Amsterdam. The scientists analyzed the DNA of a woman who died at the age of 115 - this grandmother had clear thinking until her death.
As scientists have discovered, mutations have played the role of a kind of protective fence against many serious diseases - for example, from senile dementia, atherosclerosis or Parkinson's disease.
Indeed, science has long determined that people do not die because of the short period of time measured to them. The life period is reduced because of various diseases, which the elderly organism is no longer able to cope with. What other factors, in the opinion of scientists, can prolong human life - of course, besides gene mutations?
Experts have proved: people who have children, for the most part, live longer. The same goes for those who have pets. Low-growth people live on average longer than high ones - by 10%. Working people live longer than those who suffer from idleness.
And a few more tips from specialists: if you want to live as long as possible, try not to worry in vain, do not be too zealous in the physical plan, do not ignore visits to the doctor. Your health should be taken seriously.
But the hereditary factor scientists considered the most obvious. However, experts say that the gene of longevity is far from available to everyone, so the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle should not be canceled. The fewer chronic diseases a person brings with him into old age, the longer he can live.
Still, longevity against the backdrop of maintaining an unhealthy lifestyle is not a norm, but rather an exception to the rules. This is the conclusion made by specialists. Therefore, you should not relax: healthy diet and moderate physical activity have not been canceled.
