Scientists from the oldest American university Yale have determined how a person can keep the clarity of thoughts and clarity of mind until old age. The secret is simple: you need to constantly give the brain mental load. And the most effective version of this load is reading books - namely, ordinary "printed" publications, and not electronic versions from the computer screen or tablet.

Unfortunately, in recent years people have been finding less time to read books. Of course, it's much easier to spend time in front of a TV or a laptop, watching the latest movie distribution or playing computer games. However, those who still find time to read have many advantages over those who do not.

So, scientists have sounded several reasons, from which it follows that it is useful to read:

  1. Reading warns and alleviates stress, calms the nervous system, relaxes (especially if you read light literature "to sleep coming"). Thanks to this effect, reading people can reduce their risk of developing strokes, as well as heart and vascular disease. And it calms not only the text itself, but also other factors: the rustling of pages, the smell of printing ink, etc.
  2. Reading has a beneficial effect on the processes of memorization, logic and thinking. Thanks to books, we learn to reason, draw conclusions, present and remember. Reading books is fascinating - often a person puts himself in the place of book heroes, or thinks out the story in his own way.
  3. Reading accelerates the processes of falling asleep and improves the depth of sleep. If you regularly read books at night, you can not only get rid of insomnia, but also be more energetic and fresh in the morning.
  4. Reading develops a person in the social plan: trains written and verbal literacy, teaches us to clearly formulate our conclusions.
  5. Reading allows you to increase your vocabulary, which gives confidence in communication and even increases self-esteem.

In addition, scientists have proved that the human body grows old as its brain ages . If you constantly stimulate brain activity, then you can delay the onset of old age. Undoubtedly, reading qualitative developing literature will help normalize the brain. After lengthy and large-scale research, specialists determined that in order to prolong youth and prevent the risk of premature death, it will be sufficient to read only three and a half hours per week. Quite a bit, is not it? If you adhere to this "regime", then you can extend your life - no less - for 12 years.

People who read are always more creative and more creative than those who stubbornly ignore reading books. In life, this contributes to the creation of a successful career and, as a result, the achievement of a stable financial prosperity.

Before starting "book therapy", you need to remember only a few important rules:

  • The book should be selected according to the genre, which is close to the reader (so to speak, "to your liking");
  • read it is necessary "in pleasure", and not under compulsion.

It is proved: in the listed cases reading of books will bring invaluable benefit.
