At the State Research University in Madison (Wisconsin), scientists have announced the dangers of Botox. According to experts, botulinum toxin injections have a negative effect on the central nervous system and contribute to the formation of blood clots, however, scientists cannot yet provide actual evidence.

Many scientists, doctors, and pharmacologists have already criticized the statement of their American colleagues, calling it hasty and unfounded.

Botox is widely used in cosmetology for rejuvenation, and the safety of this drug has been repeatedly questioned by researchers from different countries.

This time, the "elixir of youth" was studied in Wisconsin and, according to scientists, Botox can change its properties under the influence of organic compounds. After administration, the substance liquefies, and particles can penetrate the bloodstream and spread throughout the body. In Wisconsin, they are sure that Botox injections can lead to the formation of blood clots, but other studies have shown that botulinum toxin acts locally, due to which its effectiveness and amazing rejuvenating effect are manifested. It is worth noting that the statements of Wisconsin scientists are not supported by any research and many scientists believe that the statement was made in order to discredit the drug popular in cosmetology.

A number of experts note that botulinum toxin is not able to penetrate into the blood, much less provoke the formation of blood clots. The action of the substance is directed at the nerve cells of muscle tissue, but not at all on the whole body; after the introduction of Botox into the muscle, only a local reaction is observed. Botulinum toxin has been used in clinical practice for more than 20 years, the study of the drug began in the 40s of the last century and it was first used in neurology and cardiology, since in studies the drug showed high efficiency in the treatment of increased muscle tone, in particular cerebral palsy. The drug got into cosmetology a little later, when it turned out that Botox, in addition to relaxing muscles, has rejuvenating properties.

Botox continues to be used in neurology to treat spasmodic torticollis, writer's cramp, and other muscle tone problems.

Botulinum toxin injections are only given by a specialist, since it is necessary to accurately calculate the dosage, the course of treatment and inject into specific places, otherwise unpleasant consequences for health are really possible. Exceeding the dosage can cause drooping of the eyelids, forehead, immobilization of the face (the so-called "mask" effect) and, as a result, psychological discomfort, but all side effects are associated with improper administration or exceeding the dosage and do not have a negative effect on the entire body.

In addition, Botox is not recommended for use in cases of oncological diseases, any chronic or infectious diseases, poor blood clotting, or for patients over 60 years of age or under 35 years of age.

In most cases, all complications after botulinum toxin injections arise due to the doctor’s lack of professionalism and ignoring contraindications.
