What will spring 2013 be like? More than a hundred years ago, the poet who extolled the wonders of nature, Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev, claimed that spring is the only real revolution in this world. It seems that spring really does make a revolution every time, not only in the climate sphere, in nature, but also in politics, economics and even fashion. Just a week ago, at the beginning of March, in all regions of Ukraine there was quite warm weather, not quite typical for the beginning of March, a month that is capricious and unstable in terms of temperature conditions.
But the middle of the month demonstrated the wild and unruly nature of the elements - a storm warning was announced throughout the country, Balkan cyclones, which swept through Belgium, France and Germany as a snow storm, paid a visit to Ukraine. Forecasters expect a strong deterioration in weather conditions, snow drifts in all western and northern regions, in the south and east of the country winds up to 20-25 meters per second, rain. The temperature will drop to minus, in some areas to -10 degrees of frost at night. Nikolai Ivanovich Kulbida, head of the state hydrometeorological center, warned us about such sharp changes on the eve of the celebration of March 8, when the entire beautiful half of Ukraine accepted congratulations and enjoyed the warm spring days. Such contrasts, according to competent forecasters, are characteristic of the "pre-spring" period, that is, March, and stabilization of climatic whims should be expected only after March 22-25.
When will spring 2013 come?
The tradition that came to us from afar, this time let down the Ukrainians a little. It is obvious that the Ukrainian spring does not obey the predictions of marmots, dictating its own conditions. Timka II, a cute marmot, on whose predictions many relied, was unable to see his own shadow, which meant the arrival of spring only six weeks after February 2. According to zoologists who take care of the cute little animal, Timka hinted at an early but cool spring. Either the marmot was mistaken, or spring this year is really in a revolutionary mood, but six weeks have passed, and Ukraine is covered in snow, which does not at all resemble the forecast formulated as a “cool spring”. Most likely, nature itself will answer the question “when will spring 2013 come”, be that as it may, winters are already in the past, and one can only hope that snowstorms are just a temporary cyclone phenomenon. The arrival of spring all over the world is predicted by collecting information about changes in climate processes in all corners of our planet. The information comes from a variety of sources, most often official and verified in a scientific, statistical and chronological sense, unlike the predictions of marmots. Information is delivered to meteorological centers from orbital satellites of the planet, it is provided by special scientific vessels and observation stations constantly cruising the seas and oceans. All information is analyzed, and then a prognostic calculation is made about the movement of cyclones, wind and the dynamics of temperature changes. In their calculations, forecasters use complex mathematical formulas and equations, specially written computer programs, but nowhere in the world, not a single meteorological center can give a 100% accurate weather forecast. Moreover, the forecast can be calculated only for two weeks ahead, nature itself does not allow looking further into the future. The patterns of change in climate conditions can still be calculated with a high probability of accuracy for no more than five days, the further from the starting point, the "longer" the period, the more errors in the forecast. Therefore, one should not complain too much about the mistakes of weather forecasters, they can only assume the arrival of spring, but not calculate it. Their main task is to warn the population about truly threatening phenomena, such as heavy snowfall, thunderstorms or storm winds. They can only assume, but not calculate it. Their main task is to warn the population about truly threatening phenomena, such as heavy snowfall, thunderstorms or storm winds. They can also provide information about the approach of a cyclone or a cold, dry or rainy front for five to seven days. So, there is an answer to the question of when spring will come from N.I. Kulbida - he claims that from the beginning of April, but practice shows that cold snaps or frosts are possible in April as well. The famous weather forecaster V. Nekrasov, who makes recommendations in accordance with the lunar calendar, claims that the whole of March will be very capricious, snowy or rainy in the south,April will flood the entire territory of Ukraine with rains and only from the second ten days of May will the long-awaited warmth come. It is interesting that Nekrasov promises not just warmth, but the beginning of summer.
Be that as it may, the calendar spring has arrived, what will the spring of 2013 be like, we will see, hear, feel from our own experience. By the way, about what can be felt in the spring period, experts claim that the spring atmosphere, regardless of the temperature regime and precipitation, has a beneficial effect on the human body.
In spring, the air really changes, it becomes more saturated, as the humidity and atmospheric pressure change. Air, despite its ephemeral and invisible, was used by people centuries ago, when they learned to sail the seas with the help of sailing ships, to grind grain with the help of windmills. However, neither air in spring, nor any seasonal air in general, was measured as a resource for a very long time. Only in the 17th century, air was “weighed”, and it was not the great Galileo, who lived at that time, who distinguished himself with his invention, but his talented student - Torricelli. Based on his discovery, a device measuring air parameters - a barometer - was invented much later. The air in spring literally breathes lightness, change, purification and renewal, as if repeating the words of the poet Baratynsky “Spring, spring! How clean the air is!” Since solar activity increases in spring, air saturation also increases, all quality parameters are renewed, many of us really feel that it becomes easier to breathe than in winter. Thus, even a small activation of human resources is one of the signs of the spring "upgrade". However, there are also old time-tested signs of spring, by which our ancestors determined the weather and made a sowing and planting calendar
Signs of spring, there are a great many of them, but there are some that are truly informative, among which the following are interesting:
- If in the first ten days of March icicles appear on the roofs, which are in no hurry to please us with drops and do not melt, then the spring will be cold and protracted.
- If a spring rain turns into a thunderstorm with lightning but no thunder, a dry, hot summer is expected.
- If larks and flocks of rooks fly to the fields in early spring, the spring will be warm and dry.
- In areas where birch trees grow, locals often collect birch sap, which is also a kind of "foreteller" of the weather. An abundant flow of sap foretells a long, cool spring.
- In the old days they said that spring would never come before Maslenitsa. What spring 2013 will be like can be determined by the calendar, because this year Forgiveness Sunday falls on March 17, therefore, you shouldn't expect spring warmth before this date.
- Easter is also quite late this year; there won't be any stable warm weather before May 5th.
The date of March 15 is popularly called Vetronos, or more precisely, Fetod-Vetronos. And indeed, from year to year, winds usually blow on this day. Moreover, according to "Fedot", you can predict the summer weather. If the weather is cold on March 15, there is frost on the ground at night or snow lies, then our ancestors said aptly and succinctly - Fedot, but not that one. This meant that the summer would be rainy, cool
What will spring 2013 be like? Let's hope that warmth will come, and it doesn't matter at all whether it's in March or May. Every spring has a spirit of novelty, hopes for accomplishments and positive changes, as in the lines of Vysotsky: "Spring is inevitable, well, like renewal, and necessary, like simply spring."
