In the world of high-speed Internet and high technologies, no one thinks of work or leisure without a computer. Thus, it turns out that at least 8 hours a day (standard working day), a modern man spends in front of the screen. Free time also does not do without technology: e-books, tablets, virtual friends ... We have long been accustomed to communicating with a computer that can not positively influence the health of the body.

Ophthalmologists conducted a study and found out that lately more and more Ukrainians are subject to the so-called "computer syndrome", which affects vision. The computer syndrome threatens those people who spend more than three hours a day at the computer, that is more than 50% of the population of our country.

The first signs that you are affected by a computer syndrome: redness of the eyes, sudden pain in the eyes, headache in the nose, burning or itching, a feeling of dryness in the eyes. Following these signs, immediate deterioration of vision will follow: if you notice that you have become worse to see that it is more difficult to concentrate your vision on small details, let your eyes rest. If you already wear glasses and notice a deterioration, then consult a specialist before ordering other lenses.

Experts have found out the reason of deterioration of sight, appearance of problems with eyes at people who spend the working day behind a computer. The fact is that being in front of the screen in a concentrated state (for example, during work or study), a person blinks 10-12 times less compared to the time that he does not spend at the computer. Because of this, the outer shell of the eye dries up and is not sufficiently moistened with lacrimal glands. More resourceful people save the situation by "artificial tears," while others suffer first from discomfort arising from dryness, and thence due to the fact that vision is irreversibly falling.

Another reason that eyesight worsens is overfatigue. When we work at the computer, the eye muscles are in constant tension, and so for eight hours. As a result, the muscles are overworked, unpleasant pains arise and, as a consequence, visual acuity falls .

To prevent the computer syndrome, which scientists have classified as a disease, follow several recommendations:

  • shorten the time you spend in front of the screen. If you are forced to work at a computer, then in your spare time try to find another lesson.
  • correctly organize the workplace: follow the good lighting, adjust the brightness of the monitor so that the eyes do not get tired. - get rid of the presence of glare on the monitor: make sure that daylight and the light from the lamps do not get on the screen.
  • get special glasses for working with a computer. As it is right, they have a protective and anti-glare effect.
  • try to leave the screen every hour for at least five to seven minutes. Relax your eyes, go to the window, blink, do gymnastics for the eyes. One of the easiest exercises that will help restore visual acuity: go to the window, several times look from the point on the window to the most remote point outside the window.
