A Vietnamese resident has been diagnosed with a leg tumor weighing over 80 kilograms and about a meter in diameter.
According to 31-year-old Nguyen Duy Hai from Dalat, the capital of Lam Dong County, the tumor on his right leg appeared in early childhood. Since then, it has been constantly increasing in size, despite the amputation of the leg from the knee, which the Vietnamese man underwent 14 years ago. "I am unable to do anything except sit and lie down," the publication quotes him as saying. Hai has to rely on his 61-year-old mother, who provides full care for her son.
Hai's family cannot afford radical treatment, so in an interview, the Vietnamese man asked for financial assistance to help him pay for the operation. According to Vu Van Thach, head of the diagnostic department at Hanoi Tumor Hospital, Hai's tumor is the largest ever recorded in the country. The doctor also explained that the giant benign tumor was most likely caused by a genetic mutation.
