In the Sumy Oblast Clinical Oncology Dispensary, a new high-quality device has appeared that will help surgeons conduct operations. The modern device EK-300M1 (high-frequency electro-coagulator) is designed to connect and dissect soft human biological tissues during surgical intervention. Currently, such a device is the only one in the region.

Leading oncologists of the regional clinical oncological dispenser EK-300M1 were presented by representatives of the Kiev Electric Welding Institute named after E.O. Paton, on the basis of which, in close cooperation with the international association "Welding", developed and tested this medical technology of treatment.

Specialists of the Institute spoke in detail about the features of the EK-300M1, showed sets of tools (basic and specialized), noted the advantages and disadvantages of the device.

The principle of the new device is the effect of high-frequency current, which is supplied in a certain modulation at a temperature of 40 to 70 degrees Celsius on soft tissues. The EC-300M1 apparatus partially breaks the structure of biological membranes, and coagulation of proteins occurs under the influence of the apparatus. As a result, proteins lose their globular structure (a unique process of unwinding and gluing takes place), which allows for a bloodless dissection and a seamless connection of tissues.

The use of the new device will significantly reduce blood loss during the operation to remove the tumor, reduce the time of surgery, minimize thermal and mechanical damage to tissues, so that living cells are not damaged, and the process of restoring tissues after surgery is faster, in addition, the functionality remains the affected organ.

The scope of the EC-300M1 apparatus is quite wide: surgery of the chest, urology, gynecology, traumatology, ophthalmology, vascular surgery, as well as operations on the parenchymal organs (liver, spleen, endocrine glands, brain, etc.).

In the EC-300M1, there is a wide range of algorithms and performance parameters, depending on the type and nature of the operation. The device has four manual (cutting, joining, coagulation, overlapping) and one automatic mode. For each mode, there is an appropriate power level.

As the chief doctor of the oncology dispensary Vladimir Kohanikhin noted, new electrowelding medical technologies are being firmly introduced into the practice of surgeons, and they have not become an exception of oncological diseases.

The medical institution really needed to improve the material and technical base and the specialists expected this device to appear for a long time.

ЕК-300М1 was purchased at the expense of funds from the state fund of regional development with the support of the regional council, the regional administration, the health protection department. The cost of the EK-300M1 is about 67 thousand hryvnia and in the near future the device will be installed in the operating room. Specialists of the dispensary are sure that the quality of treatment and the volume of surgical interventions will improve due to the device.

In addition to the theoretical part, for oncosurgeons practical work was carried out (on biomaterials). All interested persons had an opportunity not only to inspect the new apparatus, but also to try it.
